    • About

During the first few days of January of 2007, a group of women from Magalia boarded a tour bus to see Menopause the Musical, in San Francisco. After enjoying the performance and returning on the bus with wine and champagne, their discussion turned to how nice it would be if they organized to do something good for the community. By the time the women disembarked the bus (and probably a result of the spirits onboard) they settled on raising funds the same way the women did in the film Calendar Girls, by selling a tastefully done but fairly risqué calendar. The decision, in fact, spurred the naming of the group-- Bare on the Ridge (BOTR).
The risqué calendar idea went by the wayside; however, the idea about raising funds to benefit the community did not.

The group, led by their first President, Bonnie Weber, decided that they wanted to ensure the safety of the people, livestock and property on the Ridge; and given the ever-decreasing government funding to staff the lookout at Sawmill Peak, that would be the group’s primary goal. ?
