Relay For Life Butte County
Relay for Life is a national event put on by the American Cancer Society to raise money in order to find a cure for cancer. This is a walk all night event to signify that cancer never sleeps. The event starts with an opening ceremony, and a lap led by survivors, and caregivers. People young and old walk the track full of hope and show off their strength. After they finish their lap, the team laps begin and at least one person has to be on the track at all times. Throughout the day/night there are theme laps that allow people to dress up, bands playing, Jazzercise and Zumba happening, and other fun activities put on by teams. Once it’s dark there is a Luminaria ceremony to honor those who have been lost, survivors, and everyone else that has been affected.
