"Opening Doors" SHOR's 5th Annual Dinner and Auction
    Event Description:

Sojourner’s House on the Ridge (SHOR) is hosting its fifth annual Dinner and Auction on Thursday, September 14th at the Paradise Alliance Church (CMA) at 6 o’clock. This fundraising event will help SHOR keep opening doors for our community’s homeless and at-risk residents. Bob Alderson and his kitchen crew at the CMA Church will be preparing a delicious dinner featuring Tri-Tip, Hawaiian Chicken, and savory side dishes. The ladies from Quota always arrange the silent auction items in an inviting display, and Liza Whitmore will conduct the live auction items in her fabulous and fun-filled manner. Heather St. Giles, SHOR’s Executive Director, will discuss the results of the first year of SHOR’s Resource Center. Tickets are $30 per person and are currently on sale at the SHOR Resource center and the Paradise Wells Fargo Bank. Let SHOR open the door for you to this entertaining event! Sojourner’s House on the Ridge (SHOR) is a community-based organization that provides support and services to the Ridge’s homeless and at-risk population. They have achieved their long-term goal of offering a broader range of services to a greater number of individuals. SHOR provides a year-round support center for Ridge residents who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless. Services include basic hygienic facilities (restrooms, showers and laundry), business services (computer, phone, fax and mail), case management to connect with area services (Employment Development Dept., Behavioral Health, Veteran Services) and assistance in locating transitional and permanent housing. SHOR also provides transportation to and from local social services, as well as the County’s emergency shelter. SHOR invites you to be part of the solution that addresses the Ridge’s homeless population. On-going opportunities to assist SHOR at no cost to you include SaveMart’s SHARES card, donating Holiday Market WOW points, and NRWS and COVE’s recycling program. Shopping can help SHOR as well by ordering goods through the Amazon SMILES program.
