Supporting: Paradise Police K-9s ~ Simple Gesture (Green Bag Program) and Gold Nugget Museum History Program for Elementary School Students Did you know…… …the two Paradise Police K-9s (Cash and Taz) assist their officer partners approximately 60 times each month with a variety of duties, such as narcotic searches of vehicles and residences, the search and apprehension of suspects, building searches, locating missing persons and assistance with allied agencies but they don’t receive a salary? Donations along with the temporary funding from sales tax revenues help with the annual costs of vet bills, their food and supplies, plus their mandatory monthly training expenses and to help with the replacement and training of new K-9s when needed. …the Simple Gesture (Green Bag Food Program) provides food for 6 (six) Food Pantries on the Ridge, distributing food to over 3,000 children and adults annually? Over 130,000 pounds of non-perishable food and 10,000 pounds of fresh food is collected each year by 120 dedicated volunteers. …the Gold Nugget Museum School Program is attended annually by over 3,000 elementary school students, almost 500 parents and 80 classes as part of the California State History Curriculum which consists of the study of the westward movement and settlement of California and the study of the Maidu Native Americans who lived here before the settlement? The Museum provides all the materials and staff for these programs. Donations help the Museum provide those materials as well as for the maintenance of the grounds and the tents. With budget problems in the schools, donations also help keep the fees low, enabling classes to continue to attend the programs at the Museum. These community services can only continue with the generous financial support of the residents and businesses here on the Ridge. Please help these organizations continue their very important work.
