Celebrate Anniversaries with the Paradise Symphony Orchestra
Can you imagine celebrating 500 years of anniversaries all in one evening? You can do just that by joining the Paradise Symphony Orchestra as we celebrate the anniversaries of several renowned composers. Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday will be honored by the performance of highlights from his monumental romantic musical tragedy “West Side Story”. This year also marks the 125th anniversary of the deaths of Charles Gounod and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky and the 150th of Gioachino Rossini. Music of these highly acclaimed composers will provide a captivating program: “Selections from Faust”, Gounod’s operatic rendering of Goethe’s story of the man who sold his soul to the Devil, Rossini’s Overture to “The Italian Girl in Algiers”, and Tchaikovsky’s Waltz of the Flowers from “The Nutcracker.”
In addition, the PSO’s exceptional woodwind section will be featured on Richard Strauss’ graceful and alluring “Serenade for Winds.”
The symphony will also be premiering a work by the prolific California composer Stephen Tosh. The first and third movements of his Symphony #3 will round out this eclectic program.
